Dear Reformers,
Hopefully you read and shared Max Nesterak’s report this week on the county sheriff’s liberal use of the “undercover” designation to conceal from the public the names and body camera footage of deputies — even when they’re doing regular police work.
This is just another in a long line of Max’s journalism holding our most important institutions to account, from the Minneapolis Police Department to the Minnesota Vikings, from Mayo Clinic to federal immigration authorities.
Max recently told the story of Andrea Pedro-Francisco, a 23-year-old asylum seeker who has been pleading for medical treatment for a large ovarian cyst since being arrested by immigration agents in Minnesota in February. Max’s dogged reporting on her plight contributed to her (temporary) release.
If you appreciate this excellent work, please support us if you can.
If you can’t give today, that’s OK! Please just keep reading and sharing our work and try to think of a few family or friends who might like our daily or weekly newsletter and send them this link.
Thanks so much for your support!
